But British Airways’ new A380s is making do with just 469 passengers across four classes of cabin classes – with lucrative First and Business class passengers paying a hefty premium for the privilege.
The airline has announced that the first long-haul return flight from London Heathrow to Los Angeles on September 24 is priced from £621 in economy to £2,550 in business and  £3,799 in First, while the first Hong Kong return on October 22 is priced from £688 in economy to £2,499 in business and £5,800 in First.
In addition, Airbus points out that the A380 has 50 per cent more floor-space buk mano varpeliu than a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet – but the number of passengers is just 30 per cent more – meaning each one has more space.

Max take-off weight:  560 tonnes
Business Class (called Club World by BA ) has 44 seats on the main deck, and  53 seats on the upper deck. Premium economy has 55 seats on the upper deck, while the reminder travelling economy  can choose seats on both the main and upper deck. 
The airline has ordered 12 A380s for delivery by 2016 of which three will arrive this year followed by a further five in 2014. But it had to raise the roof of its hangars at Heathrow by around 12 feet to accommodate the new superjumbos.
BA said the new aircraft’s innovative design means it is twice as quiet as a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet on take-off – and four times quieter on landing which may help placate some residents around Heathrow. 
British Airways chief executive Mr Williams buk mano varpeliu said: ’These aircraft are the start of a new era for British Airways. Over the next 15 months, we will take delivery of new aircraft at the rate of one a fortnight as we put ourselves at the forefront of modern aviation.’

There appeared to be an argument between the Captain and the First Officer of the Associated Airline aircraft which crashed on 3 October in Lagos Nigeria and killed 15 people, the aircraft’s black box has revealed. The readout of the black box ,also known as Cockpit Voice Recorder, CVR, conducted by Nigeria’s Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, in its Abuja’s laboratory revealed that the computer onboard the plane sent a warning message to the Captain, Yakubu Abdulrahman, shortly before take-off but he ignored it. The First Officer then suggested to the pilot to abort take-off but Yakubu Abdulrahman proceeded and took off. “The First Officer asked if the take-off should be aborted approximately 12 seconds after the ‘eight knots’ callout,” said Captain Mukhtar Usman, Commissioner Accident Investigation Bureau,AIB. AIB said the pilot and the co-pilot discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure. “The crew discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure but at this time we are not prepared to elaborate on those concerns vibrachoc as there remains a lot of work to do to complete on the CVR analysis in order to determine the specific nature of the crew’s concerns,” said AIB Commissioner, Muktar Usman. Usman said approximately four seconds after engine power was advanced to commence the take-off roll, the crew received an automated warning from the onboard computer voice which consisted of three chimes followed by “take-off flaps…take-off flaps. “This is a configuration warning that suggests that the flaps were not in correct position for take-off. And there is some evidence that the crew may have chosen not to use the flap for take-off,” Usman said. “This warning continued throughout the take-off roll,” Usman added. “Approximately three seconds after ‘power is set’ call, the First Officer noted that the aircraft vibrachoc was moving slowly. “At this time we can state that the Right engine appeared to be producing considerably less thrust than the left engine. Ms Jonti Roos told Australia’s Channel Nine TV in an interview that aired yesterday (March 11) that she and her friend were spotted during check-in and were personally invited by Fariq Abdul Hamid, 27, and the captain to spend the hour-long flight in the cockpit.

Such a practice would be illegal on American airlines but not necessarily so on international ones, according to CNN Aviation Correspondent Richard Quest. Access to the cockpit is up to the discretion of the captain, though most airlines have tightened security in the wake of the Sept 11, 2011 attacks.
